Administrative

Administrative serving opportunities benefit many areas by freeing up others and supporting them in additional ministries.  These behind-the-scenes tasks sustain and enhance the body of Christ.

Responsibilities:  Help prepare church wide publications:  assemble materials or mailings; label mailings; deliver mailings to the Post Office.
Spiritual Gifts:  Helps/Assistance
Schedule:  On an as-needed basis
Length of Commitment:  3-4 hours a month.

Responsibilities:  This involves working with 1 of 4 teams on Monday mornings (or Tuesday morning if Monday is a church holiday) for the purpose of counting the receipts from church services and assuring the proper and honest designation of these funds.
Spiritual Gifts:  Helps/Assistance
Schedule:   Monday mornings for 2-3 hours approximately 13 times per year.
Length of Commitment:  1 year minimum.

Responsibilities:  Work in the Media Center circulating materials and assisting patrons. May process new materials or prepare overdue reminders.  May decorate Media Center or write promotional articles.  Training provided.
Spiritual Gifts:  Help/Assistance; Knowledge
Schedule:  2 hours per month, Sunday AM or Wednesday PM.
Length of Commitment:  Not specified.

FINANCE COMMITTEE
Responsibilities:  Participate in the overseeing of all financial matters including budget approval and recommendations, helping monitor monthly receipts and expenses, plus any other fiscal matters that are pertinent.   Board Members are appointed by the Lay Leadership Committee annually in September.  Persons interested in serving in this capacity are welcome to submit their names to the Administrative Assistant in the church office prior to September.
Spiritual Gifts:  Administration/Leadership
Schedule:  Monthly meetings and called meeting of the Finance Committee.
Length of Commitment:  4 years.

VBUMC FOUNDATION COMMITTEE
Responsibilities:  Communicate and publicize opportunities for people to make provisions for giving to church by means of wills, annuities, trusts, life insurance, memorials, and various types of property.   Receive, maintain, and administer assets in perpetuity exclusively for religious, charitable, and educational purposes and to use and apply the whole or any part of the assets and income for such purposes.  Invest funds responsibly and disburse them as needed.   Committee Members are appointed by the Lay Leadership Committee annually in September.  Persons interested in serving in this capacity are welcome to submit their names to the Administrative Assistant in the church office prior to September.

Schedule:  Meetings as scheduled.
Length of Commitment:  Not specified.

STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
Responsibilities:  The Stewardship Committee discusses new ways to encourage giving levels of prayer, presence, gifts, and service.  Assist as a team member to develop and implement stewardship program initiatives.
Spiritual Gifts:  Giving/Generosity; Helps/Assistance
Schedule:  Monthly meetings the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM.; increased involvement at times during the year.
Length of Commitment:  2 years.
